Learn Firearm Safety, Get Licenced.

The CFSC is the Canadian Firearm Safety Course. This 8-hour* course is required if you wish to obtain a Possession and Acquisition (PAL) type of firearm licence in Canada to possess or acquire non-restricted rifles or shotguns.

The CRFSC is the Canadian Restricted Firearm Safety Course. You must take this 4- or 6-hour* course in addition to the CFSC in order to obtain a restricted PAL (or “RPAL”). Restricted firearms include handguns and certain rifles and shotguns.

Often, you will need an RPAL for certain types of employment (such as border services, armoured car, sporting goods stores, etc.).

The CFSC is delivered over a minimum of eight (8) hours of instruction, not including examinations. The CRFSC is an additional minimum of four (4) hours of classroom instruction, not including examination, when taken within thirty (30) days of the CFSC. At ONfirearmsafety, we deliver the CFSC alone in a 1-day course, or with the CRFSC in a combined 2-day format, in English only. The “CFSC/CRFSC Student Handbook” is available as a PDF download from the government website (link is in the footer), or you can borrow or purchase a copy at the course. The cost is $21 (GST incl) to purchase a copy.

Applicable Harmonizes Sales Tax (HST) is applied where applicable, and it is listed in the course listing.

* Course length does not include examination time, or breaks. CRFSC is available in 4-hour format if you have taken the CFSC in the last 30 days.
